YEAR IN REVIEW

2020

FROM OUR CEO

We have made it to the end of a year that tested us in all aspects. 2020 was a year of hard choices, hard truths and abrupt changes. But 2020 was also a year of reflection, of personal growth and awareness. Despite the difficult choices that many of us had to make this year, we also got an opportunity to pause, reflect and focus on bettering ourselves.

At Tackle What's Next, we took the impending challenges to our work, the inability to host in-person events and the significant changes to the athlete landscape as an opportunity to shift.

We pivoted as did many others - quickly changing our in-person summits to virtual ones and launching a livestream series that ran throughout the year to provide continuous and free resources to athletes and athlete development professionals.

We created our new content series, Timeout with TWN, on Instagram to continue to highlight athletes and their experiences in navigating what's next. We piloted an internship program to provide valuable experience to aspiring sport professionals. And we kicked off our Champion Membership to provide accountability and support to athletes and sports professionals in their professional growth during this challenging time.

As many of us have learned this year, we can't go it alone. Collaboration has been the key to success for TWN, and we greatly appreciate the organizations who supported us and partnered on various events. Thanks to these many collaborations, we were able to reach many new faces and grow our network. We appreciate all the support from our friends and partners that made this all possible.

Finally, this year we had the opportunity to develop and implement workshops on self-discovery, personal development and creating impact. We can't wait to continue to share these resources to athletes and organizations supporting athletes.

As we look to 2021, Tackle What's Next will continue to provide resources to athletes in all stages of their careers. We believe in the power of athletes to inspire and create positive change. Our focus will continue to be on supporting those athletes dedicated to creating impact and finding purpose in life outside of the game.

Please enjoy some of our favorite highlights from the year below. Until the new year, have a safe and healthy holiday season. Brighter days are most certainly ahead. Happy holidays!

TWN SUMMIT: SUPER BOWL LIV

Our only in-person summit of 2020 took place in Miami, FL during Super Bowl LIV. We hosted over 100 former and current athletes and sports executives for conversations on navigating the career transition, mindset and identity change, how philanthropy can enhance your brand and financial wellness.

Thank you to all our partners: Players Point Sports, A Frugal Athlete, Old Bull Athletics, WeWork, Lauren Faby Consulting, and La Belle Vie; our sponsors: AARP, The Franchise Advisor, Berkower, Lakey Legal and Virtuity; and of course our many incredible speakers for making the event such a success! We can't wait to return to live events when it's safe to do so.

TWN VIRTUAL SUMMIT SERIES

We quickly pivoted to virtual events in March 2020. Between our two virtual summits this spring and summer, we hosted over 270 student athletes, professional athletes, athlete career development professionals, and sports executives.

Topics ranged from leveraging your network as an athlete, translating your skills from sports to career, the power of purpose, financially preparing for life after sports and the impact of name, image and likeness on athletes and more.

At our July TWN Summit, "Embracing What's Next", we raised awareness and funds for our friends at Every Kid Sports. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we were able to donate over $450 to support their mission to provide access for sports programs to youth across the country.

Thank you to our incredible speakers and partners who made these virtual summits such a huge success, and thanks to all of you for attending!

LIVESTREAMS AND WORKSHOPS

We would like to thank all the wonderful partners and speakers that were a part of so many impactful events this year. We've appreciated their support and commitment to providing resources for athletes around the country.

Thank you to our friends at Her Next Play, Champions for Philanthropy, Every Kid Sports, Megan Perry Consulting, MVP Wealth, The Franchise Advisor, Encompass Life Coaching and so many more organizations for their support! Here are a couple recent TWN livestream highlights:

Athlete Activism Workshop | November 13, 2020

This conversation focused on the how of athlete activism - going beyond social media to take action and create impact. Our speakers highlight some important ways to further advocate for change. They also chatted about the history of athlete activism and the modern athlete activist, and how to educate yourself and others. Thank you to Laureus USA, The Sanneh Foundation, The Ascendant Athlete, Champions for Philanthropy, the GW Sports Philanthropy Certificate Program and SIG Sports for their support and partnership on this event.

Crafting Your Elevator Pitch | October 8, 2020

We were thrilled to host Career Coach Megan Perry to talk about how to construct a clear and concise elevator pitch that highlights your strengths and communicates added value. She taught us about how to cleanly articulate who you are, what you've done and why it matters. Thank you Megan for your support! To learn more, visit Megan Perry Consulting.

CHAMPION MEMBERS

We launched our Champion Accountability membership this year and we have loved working with our members on their goals. Dr. Nikki Clifton and Toccara Ross are two of our amazing Champion members.

Here's what they had to say about the program:

"Before joining the TWN Champions program I was not fully stepping into my CEO power and owning that I am an authority. I was playing small in my business and it was holding me back. I now embody the CEO and owner of my business in a way that feels so aligned and authentic. I learned that in order to be what I believe I can be, I have to begin responding, acting, and believing in myself in a way that cannot be shaken. Danielle loves her clients and community. That is what sets her apart from many others in the industry. She gives her all and genuinely wants the best success for each individual. The program is worth far more than the investment."

- Dr. Nikki Clifton, The Sports Culture Coach

"TWN has given me the ultimate wake up call alongside a great group of accountability partners that have not only allowed me to hold myself accountable but stretch in areas where I needed the most support. The Champion program empowers you to shift to the next phase of your life through 1-1 accountability sessions and peer to peer connections. "

- Toccara Renee, Entrepreneur & Pro Basketball Player
